On Sept. 1, Navajo Mountain High School received a large donation of school supplies, personal products, clothing, food and water. The donation was organized by the Color Country Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) based in St. George, Utah.

Page High School Girls Soccer Team defeated Sedona 9-1 on Sept. 6. The Sand Devils opened the season with an 8-0 win over Holbrook.

The planning phase for student housing at Coconino Community College Page Center is now underway, and developers hope to break ground on the project around 12 to 16 months from now, according to a presentation at the Aug. 10 Page City Council meeting.

Two people were killed and five others were injured when a single-engine Cessna 207A Turbo Stationair 8 crashed into Lake Powell on Aug. 13, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Page Unified School District held its annual Navajo Culture Orientation Day for new teachers on Aug. 1. The purpose for the event is to teach incoming teachers about the Navajo way of life, traditions and culture so they’ll be better prepared to make connections with their Navajo students and colleagues.

Late last year, City of Page Recreation and Community Services Director Lynn Cormier and Special Event Coordinator Sheri Ptacek were tasked by city management with “enhancing the events” in Page.
