Many voters in Page are aware that former Page Justice of the Peace Donald G. Roberts passed away suddenly prior to the Nov. 8 election. Due to the timing of his death, his name had already been printed on the election ballots.

Page resident Cindy Stafford gave a presentation on the history of Hite, Utah, at Page Public Library on Nov. 15. The event was part of the Glen Canyon Conservancy’s monthly lecture series.

The Navajo Generating Station was memorialized last week with ceremonies at Page City Hall and Coconino Community College Page Center.

Vaping has been banned in most public places and places of employment within the City of Page, by an ordinance passed by Page City Council at its Nov. 16 meeting. The ordinance takes effect on Dec. 16.

In honor of Veterans Day, Desert View Intermediate School held its second annual Veterans Day Salute last week.

A parade was held in downtown Page on Nov. 11 to mark Veterans Day.

Before the COVID pandemic began sweeping across the U.S. in early 2020, the Tse’yaato’ High School Teenage Parent Program (TAPP) had a dozen or so students enrolled.

Mike Farrow, the newest member of the Page City Council, took the oath of office during the council’s Nov. 16 meeting. It is his first time holding elected office, a “dramatic change of lifestyle” that he sees as a welcome challenge and the next logical step in a life of service to others.

For Sara Kidman, the stage of the Cultural Arts Building is as familiar as the living room, kitchen or bedroom of her own home. Kidman has been acting in Page’s high school musicals since she was in fourth grade. Kidman, the daughter of Steven and Sandra Kidman, is now a junior at Page High School.

In 2002, the Old Spanish Trail received federal designation as an addition to the National Historic Trail system. The 20th anniversary of this designation was celebrated during the Old Spanish Trail Association National Conference, which was held at the Courtyard by Marriott in Page from Oct. 20-23.

Hot air balloons ruled the sky during last weekend’s Page, AZ Balloon Regatta, the city’s biggest annual event.

Three Page High School students each earned a $1,000 scholarship from Dixie Ellis Lower Antelope Canyon Tours on Oct. 21 after they kicked a field goal during half time of the Sand Devils football game.

A large semi-trailer arrived in Page on Oct. 14, loaded with 36 pallets weighing a total of 36,000 pounds. The delivery was a donation of non-perishable food to the Circle of Page Food Pantry from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The life and legacy of late Navajo Code Talker Bahe Ketchum was honored at a ceremony at Navajo Mountain High School on Oct. 27. At the event, artist Elwyn Shorthair presented his original portrait of Ketchum to three of Ketchum’s sons and other family members.

The Sand Devils football team finished the season 5-5 after losing to the Show Low Cougars 38-6 in their final game of the season on Oct. 27. The Sand Devils did not qualify for the playoffs.

Page hosted the 3A North Region Cross-Country Meet on Oct. 26. Page boys took first place, and Page girls finished second.

With the passing of Justice of the Peace Candidate Donald G. Roberts, the Coconino County Elections Department announced last month that it was accepting nomination applications to become write-in candidates for City of Page justice of the peace.

Tse’Yaato’ High School in Page held a luncheon on Oct. 19 to celebrate the school receiving Cognia’s highest honor as a 2022 School of Distinction.

On Oct. 20, the St. George Chapter of the DAR – led by Regent Susan Dransfield and American Indian Chapter Chair Kim Clark – organized a second donation drive as part of the National DAR Day of Service.
