Shirley Mae Larson of Page, Arizona, went to be wit her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, peacefully on October 20, 2023. Shirley was 92 years old. Shirley was a loving wife and mother, and was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Peter J. Larson. She is survived by her five children: Alfred Larson, Gregory Larson, Timothy Larson and Jeffery Larson, all of Page, Arizona, and one daughter, Pamela (Larson) Lane of Bridgeport, Texas. Shirley had six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  

Shirley enjoyed a long career as a teacher and librarian with the Bureau of Indian Affairs on the Navajo Indian Reservation, where she enriched the lives of countless children. Summer vacations were often spent visiting family in or near her birthplace of Lacrosse, Wisconsin. Upon retiring, Shirley and Peter moved to their home in Page, Arizona.

As a devout Christian, Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Page. Ever concerned with the care of children, Shirley could often be found serving in the church nursery. Known for her warm heart and concern for others, Shirley would frequently surprise friends and new acquaintances with a plate of homemade cookies.

Funeral Services were held at the First Baptist Church of Page on Oct. 28, 2023, at 2:00 pm.  Shirley will be laid to rest next to her husband Peter in the Page City Cemetery.
