The Sand Devils football team capped Homecoming week with an impressive 28-7 win over the Winslow Bulldogs last Friday night.
The win improved the Sand Devils record to 6-3 overall. They are 4-0 in the 3A North, and they’ve won three out of their last four games. Page plays its final game of the regular season this Friday, hosting Chinle. If Page gets the win against the Wildcats, it will be in great position going into the postseason. The Wildcats are 4-4 overall, 2-2 in the 3A north.
Page’s first score of the night came from an 80-yard touchdown pass This was followed a few minutes later by an interception that was returned 90 yards for a touchdown. The final score of the game came from a 15-yard touchdown run.
Looking at the stat sheets, both teams had similar games, and in fact Winslow had more overall yards, more rushing yards and more passing yards. The Sand Devils had 232 yards of total offense. Winslow had 288. Page had 88 passing yards, while Winslow had 141. Page had 144 rushing yards, and Winslow had 147. Page had four turnovers; Winslow had 3.
The difference was that the Sand Devils’ chunk yardage ended in the endzone four times to Winslow’s one time.
The Sand Devils return to their home turf this Friday for senior night. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
