Preston Ross shot a 4-under-par round of 68 Sunday to win the two-day Lake Powell National Amateur Championship.

Ross, a 15-year-old sophomore at Page High School, eagled the par-4 8th hole to take a one-stroke lead into the back nine. He finished 76-68 for 144 strokes, two better than Wyatt Toney of Moab, Utah. Toney, a high school senior who has received multiple Division I college scholarship offers, shot 75-71. Third was first-round leader Jeff Jensen of Page, 74-80.

Ross is believed to be the youngest winner in the history of Page city amateur golf tournaments, dating to the 1970s. The tournament attracted 82 golfers from three states, 29 of them coming from outside Page. Tournament director Jake Hunter said the purse was $6,000 in script.

Defending champion Joe Ligon finished tied for fourth place. His wife, Eve, was second in the ladies’ division to defending champion Kelsey Sanders of Page. Sanders shot 81-80, and Eve Ligon was six strokes back.

The seniors division, ages 55 to 69, was won by Brian Leum, who shot 77-74. Second was Martin Anderson of Cedar City, 76-77. Flights also included winners by net score after handicaps were applied.
