In a stroke of luck for animal lovers gearing up for the new year, Cute Creatures N’ Supplies has opened its doors after a 15-plus-year pet store absence in Page. Nestled at 629 Elm St., discreetly tucked away in the breezeway, this recently established store promises a delightful array of small pets, from chirpy parakeets to cuddly hamsters and exotic lizards. 

Kristen Hernandez, the mastermind behind this venture, opened the business about four weeks ago after two months of careful preparation. Hernandez, surrounded at home by a menagerie of four dogs, two bunnies and more, already possessed the expertise needed to care for caged animals. Once the planning and layout were perfected, the task of caring for the creatures became a breeze.

Assisting Hernandez in this endeavor are her husband Armando and their daughter Lily. Armando humbly describes himself as the “helper” in Kristen’s dream project, emphasizing the family’s commitment to their passion for animals.

While business has been gradual since the grand opening, Kristen attributes the slow start to the store’s somewhat hidden location. However, Cute Creatures has made efforts to advertise and market her business on the Page American United Facebook page. Operating from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the store invites current and future pet owners to discover its treasure trove. 

Upon stepping into Cute Creatures, visitors are met with a variety of adorable animals and an extensive selection of supplies catering to their every need. From fish food to light domes and rabbit toys, the store aims to be a one-stop shop for small-pet enthusiasts. 

For Kristen, the most rewarding aspect of her newfound profession is witnessing the joy on the children’s faces as they explore the store. Looking ahead, Cute Creatures is considering expanding its repertoire to include turtles, tarantulas and saltwater fish.

One notable aspect is the pricing strategy, as Cute Creatures competes with industry giants like Petco and PetSmart. Kristen and her team are determined to make quality pet care accessible without breaking the bank.
