The clubhouse at Lake Powell National Golf Course is getting crowded. At the May 24 City Council meeting, counselor David Auge said the golfers he talked to are “chomping at the bit” for more room to move around in “so they don't keep bumping their beers against somebody else, which is a literal true thing if you ever been in the clubhouse after an event.”

More room is on the way. Council awarded a clubhouse addition contract to B4 Enterprises Inc.

“We worked with our architect, Campbell Architecture Services. We came up with a design that we think will work,” said Kyle Christiansen, City of Page’s director of public works.

The addition will accommodate events better than the current space.

“More people will be able to congregate in the clubhouse [and] around the clubhouse grounds,” Christiansen said.

Council approved $872,227 for the project. Christiansen told council that the cost could increase because of the rising cost of construction materials in the area.

“I think we're going to continue to see a slight increase,” Christiansen said. “Some of those increases have slowed. This particular project is a lot of concrete, steel, and we know our concrete price here in town is higher than most. And seeing that soft woods have come down in price, but again, it's a lot of concrete and steel. So those commodities are a little bit higher than we anticipated.”

Construction is expected to begin soon.

“Probably two weeks from the time of award of contract. We give them 10 days to get some documents back to us,” Christiansen said.
