Donald Dale Finicum left this world for the next, on August 31, 2023, at the age of 86.
Don was raised in the Cane Beds area of Arizona. He graduated from Fredonia High School in 1956. Don went to college at ASC (now NAU) in Flagstaff. In Flagstaff, at ASC, is where he met his future wife, Donalie, on a hiking club trip in 1958.
Don was a schoolteacher for 30 years. He taught in Young, Arizona; Camp Verde, Arizona; 10 years in Kayenta on the Navajo Reservation; and Page, Arizona from 1973 to 1990. He spent his retirement years hiking, camping, boating and exploring the country around Page and on the Arizona Strip. He spent most of the last 20 years working on and caring for the family ranch in Cane Beds.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Beulah Finicum, and older brother, Tommy. He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Donalie; his brother, David; and many nieces and nephews.
He is and will be missed.
Burial was at the Finicum Ranch Cemetery in Cane Beds, under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary.
