Amarillo, Texas – William Thomas Dixon, Jr. was born April 27, 1926 in Amarillo, Texas. His parents were W. T. (Tommy) Dixon and Estelene Ansley Dixon. He passed away Dec. 1, 2017 at his home in Page.

Bill attended Amarillo Public Schools from grade one thru graduation from Amarillo High School. He attended Amarillo Junior College and the University of Colorado Boulder Campus. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and served in the South Pacific.

Returning home after his discharge from the service he married the girl next door, Joyce Webb. They had one son, Michael. This marriage ended in a divorce. On July 17, 1953 he married Peggy Morris. They had two sons, Mark and Randall. They made their home in Boulder, Colo. For 53 years. They moved to Page in 2005

Bill returned after 33 years from Rocky Flats Atomic Energy Plant in Golden, Colo. He was manager of the Non-Destructive Testing Lab. He later went to Kenya, Africa as a consultant for the International Atomic Energy Association, to help the Kenyan Government develop a Non-destructive Testing Lab with the Highway/Transportation Department.

Bill started losing his eyesight in the 90s becoming totally blind. He attend the Southwest Regional Rehab Center for the Blind in Tucson.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Winson, and two sons, Michael and Randall.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 14, 2018 at the Page Community United Methodist Church, Page.
