Page High School student Sjodin John has won first place in the 2023 Page Balloon Regatta Art Contest.
City of Page Mayor Bill Diak presented her with a certificate of appreciation and a swag bag at the May 24 Page City Council Meeting. The 2023 Balloon Regatta t-shirts will be graced with her design, featuring Page’s iconic Horseshoe Bend as the background.
Page High School art students submitted a variety of designs. Shyanne Tate took second place, and Shylon Benally won third place. About 160 students participated in the contest.
John graduated from Page High School this year. The young artist told the Chronicle she plans on continuing her education at Arizona State University. She is also considering summer school at Coconino Community College. Her goal is to become a dental hygienist.
The 20th annual Page Lake Powell Balloon Regatta is schedule for Nov. 2-5, 2023.
