A new adult fitness park has opened on Elm Street between 4th Avenue and Gum Street, aimed at providing Page residents with an outdoor venue for safe, low-impact workouts.
Lynn Cormier, the recreation and community services director for the City of Page, said the project had been in the works for about two years but had been put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re going to start off with low-impact equipment, and if we get a really good outcome from the public, we’ll stick with that,” Cormier said. “If we find out that it’s really not going anywhere, then we might segue into a little more advanced adult fitness” with more challenging equipment.
The design of the park includes a 4-foot-wide, ADA-accessible concrete walkway that meanders from one piece of equipment to the next and leaves room to add more equipment in the future. Crushed shale flooring beneath each piece of equipment will allow easier access for people using wheelchairs or other mobility devices.
