PAGE – For the sixth year in a row the Page High School cross-country team, better known as the Runnin’ Devils, won the Division III state championship last Saturday at the Cave Creek Golf Course in Phoenix.

The team’s six state championships are the longest current winning streak in Arizona. This is also Page High’s 17th state cross-country title.

Trent Holiday at this year’s event placed third; Skylar Sandoval placed ninth; Rex Martin placed 13th; Quentin Davis placed 20th; Colton Yazzie placed 28th; Shayden Begay placed 71st; and Gavyn Begay place 124th.

The Runnin’ Devils’ running legacy began 30 years ago when Page High’s cross-country team took its first state title in 1989. Members of the 1989 team included cross country head coach Theo Martin and former cross-country head coaches Tim Martin and Mac Lane.
