Pampered Paws’ Shelly Johnston (left) and volunteer Keiyana Begay wrestle with a feisty lab named Mocha. The Soggy Doggy charity event, hosted at Pampered Paws Grooming, earned the Page Animal Adoption Agency more than $500.

April 5 marked another charity event for the Page Animal Adoption Agency. The “Soggy Doggy” dog wash, hosted by Pampered Pets and with the help of a handful of volunteers, invited mangy mutts in, and sent cultivated canines out.

After settling a dispute over ownership of their building with city council earlier in March, the Page Animal Adoption Agency has been at the forefront of a successful year filled with rescued animals and popular charity events.

“Our success rate in accepting shelter pets is getting close to 95 percent. Euthanasia has gone down dramatically in the last year,” said director Natalie Ferrando. “Since January 2014, the city has only had to euthanasia two sick dogs, and they were very, very ill. We haven’t had to put down any healthy dogs yet.”
