Words of love: sacrifice, commitment and perseverance

Modified: Thursday, Feb 20th, 2014

Martin Micale, pastor of the Lake Powell Church of the Nazarene, has more than 30 years of pastoral experience. Micale has studied and served in family counseling since the beginning of his ministry.
Quite possibly the greatest gift God gave us when He created us is the ability to love. Jesus, when asked what the greatest commandment was answered, “Love the Lord with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. And love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark 12:28-3.)

The word “sacrifice” is the first word I think about when I think about real love. We are so concerned with our individual rights today that we seldom voluntarily surrender those rights to bring joy or comfort to the people we claim to love.

Jesus loved us so much that He sacrificed His life for us.

In a true love relationship we gladly give up what we could have for what others should have.
