On the heels of hiring a new city manager, Page City Council has chosen Joseph Estes as the new city attorney.
Estes, of Mesa, replaces Robert Wingo, who left in December 2013. Former City Manager Rick Olson, who preceded Wingo as city attorney, conducted the duties of the office in the meantime.
Estes was most recently a senior associate handling civil litigation for Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, a Los Angeles-based law firm with 30 offices across the country, including one in Phoenix, according to the firm's website.
Prior to that he was an assistant attorney general for the state of Arizona, and worked for several other private firms. He was a sole practitioner from 2006 to 2008.
In addition to his work as an attorney, he was a member of the Maricopa City Council and a planning and zoning commissioner for the city.
Estes served in the U.S. Air Force from 1992 to 1997 as an Arabic Linguist/Air Transportation Specialist.
He earned his bachelor's degree in paralegal studies from Wesley College in Delaware and his law degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Estes starts work Feb. 18, according to Susanne Kennedy, deputy city clerk.
