City manager candidates set for interviews

The four men who want to run Page city government are scheduled to interview with city council this week.

Donald Adams, William W. Way Jr., Bentley G. Henderson and K. Kane Graves are the finalists for the job, which opened up when current City Manager Rick Olson announced his resignation in July.

Olson agreed to stay on the job until council found his replacement.

After failing to find a local candidate that suited the city’s needs, council solicited applicants through the Leauge of Cities and the International City/County Management Association, according to Mayor Bill Diak. About 35-40 people submitted applications.

Councilors narrowed the list to five and after one dropped out, they interviewed the final four by phone during an executive session Dec. 2. Executive sessions are closed to the public.

They decided to bring all four to Page for face-to-face interviews.

Council is scheduled to meet in executive session during its regular meeting Dec. 18 to discuss the candidates.

Two days later, Adams and Henderson will meet with councilors in executive session. The following day, it will be Graves and Way.

Diak said council could reach consensus fairly quickly after the interviews, but contract negotiations could take some time. He wouldn’t put it on a timetable, saying, “It’s a process.”

Here are summaries of each of the candidates, according to the resumes they submitted to the city.
