Local effects of federal shutdown

Colorado River Discovery was forced to suspend its rafting trips down the river, costing the local outfitter thousands of dollars a day.

A South Carolina couple who were set to be married on Lone Rock Beach were among the first wave of people to suffer upheaval in their lives from the shutdown of the federal government.

Jay Pasin, 29, and Katy Adamson, 25, expected to get married Oct. 5 at Lone Rock with 120 guests who’d flown in from all over the country. Their sunset wedding on the beach at Lone Rock was shutdown by Washington’s actions.
