Page Middle School football teams open strong

Posted: Thursday, Sep 12th, 2013

Panthers' quarterback Jacob Doyle led the eighth-grade team to a 27-8 win.
Both Page Middle School football teams won their season openers Sept. 4, defeating Tuba City Boarding School in games played at Sand Devils Stadium.

The eighth graders, led by quarterback Jacob Doyle, won 27-8.

Coach Jonathan Prather said the team went undefeated as seventh graders last year, but added, “They will need to keep improving if they want to be successful. This year’s schedule is very competitive.”

Doyle and Christian White were named team captains, and Prather, the former coach of Page High, said he chooses two additional captains each week based on leadership, grades and hard work.

In the seventh grade game, the Panthers won 22-0.

The two teams next play Sept. 14 at Pinon, before returning home to face Tuba City Public on Sept. 18.
