Modified: Wednesday, Jul 17th, 2013

Annetta G. Bjorholm, 91, of Danbury, Iowa, died July 4 at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa.

She was born on a farm near Wakonda, S.D., on May 9, 1922. Bjorholm was the first daughter and fourth child of James A. and Jaunetta A. Buckley. At age 7, Annetta moved with her family to a farm south of Struble, Iowa, where she grew up and attended school. In 1940 she graduated from high school and then attended Western Union College, earning a teaching certificate.

Through the years, Annetta taught country school, public school and Catholic school. She retired from teaching in 1992, but continued to tutor for some time. She was very active in her community and church. She was an active member of “Nuns on the Run,” which is a group that has performed all over the Midwest raising money for community funds.

She married Harry M. Bjorholm on Dec. 27, 1950, in Alton, Iowa. She brought five boys into this world, Leo, Larry, Tom, Roger and Neil. She is survived by Leo and Jo Bjorholm of Page, Larry and Diane Bjorholm of Johnstone, Iowa, Tom and Katherine Bjorholm of Knoxville, Tenn., and Neil and Lynne Bjorholm of Battle Creek, Iowa.

For the past six years, Annetta has wintered in Page with Leo and Jo Bjorholm. She was highly active in the local Cancer Outreach Program, played bridge, played bingo, enjoyed travelling around Arizona and neighboring states, seeing first hand many of the things she taught her students.

Annetta was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, and her son, Roger, her parents, and five brothers, Leo, Tim, Bill, Tom and Don Buckley.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers or gifts, a donation can be made in her name to Cancer Outreach. Donations can be dropped off at Lake Powell Boat Storage or A Treasured Occasion. As always, checks should be made out to the charity.
