Lua was born Jan. 20, 1926, in Thomas, Okla., to Joe and Beatrice Moore. He was the oldest of six boys. He passed away peacefully on June 2.
Lua left home at an early age and was soon drafted in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He met and married Geneva May Metheny on January 23, 1945. They are the parents of five children, Russel, Darvin (Rese), Darrel (Lenna), Bonita and Rendia (Tom). Their marriage was sealed in the St. George Temple on Aug. 30, 2003.
Lua has 19 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, with another one on the way and one great-great-grandchild, with number two on the way. Lua had a great love for his family.
Lua moved his family to Page in 1965. He worked for the state of Arizona at the Page Port of Entry for 27 years. He was a hard worker and a dedicated employee.
One of Lua’s favorite places was their cabin on Cedar Mountain. He was an active member in the Masonic Lodge. He held the top office for a while in Page. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Lua is survived by his wife, Geneva, four of his children, and two brothers, Wayne and Curtis. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and his daughter, Bonita.
Services are to be held at 10 a.m. June 6, at the LDS Stake Center on North Navajo in Page. There will be a viewing June 6 from 8:45 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Page Cemetery with military honors.
