Message to graduates: Build your life on solid principles

Martin Micale, pastor of the Lake Powell Church of the Nazarene, has more than 30 years of pastoral experience. Micale has studied and served in family counseling since the beginning of his ministry.
This is the season for colleges and high schools to celebrate graduation. Many of our seniors here in Page will be receiving their diplomas and heading out into the “real world.” By fall semester many of them will be in colleges around the state and across the country. Some will be moving into their own apartments closer to home. Many will be working someplace while trying to figure out where they are going with their adult life or what they are going to eventually do with their lives.

If I could give any words of advice to our graduates, I would encourage them to be about the business of developing character. There are many “characters” in the world, but what the world needs is more young (and older) people of sound character. There are many things that go into shaping our character. Most traits are within our ability to control and to change.
