One of the key aspects of the community hit hardest by the collapse of U.S. 89 is the Page Unified School District.
According to superintendent Jim Walker, the longer route the buses are being forced to use is rough and inadequate for the volume of traffic it is seeing, adding to the wear and tear buses already experience.
For students and drivers, the district has already taken several steps to make the trip as tolerable as possible by adjusting schedules, setting up port-a-potties at the Gap Chapter house and providing snacks on the late bus, according to Walker.For the complete article see the 04-24-2013 issue.
