October seems like a ways away, but time flies. So save October 19 for flying time and watching what flies. Thatís the date for the 4th Annual Wings & Wheels Air Affaire at the Page Airport. This yearís event has more in store, and itís free.
As in years past, local pilots LeRoy Wicklund and Mike Makowski will be giving free plane rides for first-time flyers. Young Eagles will be offering free flights to kids under 18. The CJ6 military trainers will be back on display and performing their famous fly-bys. Model airplanes will be on exhibit. Classic cars will be showing their stuff. Several hangars will be open for viewing.
New this year are hot air balloons, experimental aircraft, ultralights, parachutists and more. Follow WingsWheelsAirAffaire on Facebook for the latest updates.
Vendor spaces are available for young and young-at-heart entrepreneurs and organizations for just $25 until September 30. After that, the price goes up.
Sponsorships are invited, encouraged and readily accepted. Sponsor donations cover the cost of fuel, food and lodging for guest pilots and presenters. Sponsors are a major source of funding for the event.
While the Wings & Wheels Air Affaire is one of only two events presented by the City of Page, the city just covers some of the promotional costs. No city employees or paid contractors are used or abused in the planning. All organizational efforts are volunteer.
Anyone interested in getting involved is welcome. Meetings are the first Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m. at the airport.
Vendor and sponsorship information is available from Julie Morales at email@example.com, 928-660-0200.
