Opposition to mental health screening ramps up

Controversy over the mental health screening program in Page Middle School became more heated over the past week with questions about child safety, a radio ad campaign and a formal request for public records filed by an out-of-state opponent of the program, known as “TeenScreen.”

The Page Unified School District Governing Board on Feb. 26 gave permission to the group Native Americans for Community Action to implement the suicide screening program.

As consent forms were sent to parents, opposition to TeenScreen began to build.
