ADOT: ‘Landslide’ likely culprit

Modified: Wednesday, Feb 27th, 2013

Arizona Department of Transportation engineers believe a landslide may be responsible for the destruction of a 150-foot section of U.S. Highway 89, approximately 25 miles south of Page.

“ADOT has geotechnical engineers who are evaluating the stability of the site and checking to see if there’s been any more movement in the foundation in the area,” said spokesman Dustin Krugle. “Once that has been completed, work will begin on a roadway design to rebuild the highway. Construction of the project will be the final step.”
