Girls fall short in defense of title

The third time was not the charm for the Lady Sand Devils.

The defending state champions lost to Window Rock, 30-24, in the girls state basketball tournament quarterfinals Feb. 18 at Prescott Valley.

It was their third loss to the Fighting Scouts this season, although one of Scouts’ wins was vacated because they had an ineligible player.

Page was ranked sixth, Window Rock third in the tournament.
