David Morissette, a long-time Wahweap and Big Water, Utah resident, passed away on Feb. 6 from cancer.
David was born in Waterville, Maine, on April 22, 1948.
He moved west in the 1960ís and married his wife, Karen, in 1980. In 1984 the family moved to Lake Powell where David was the lead groundskeeper for Wahweap Resort and Marina for over 25 years. He kept the resort beautiful and took his job very seriously.
David loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing, gardening, and riding ATVs. He wasnít happy unless he was covered in dirt; whether it came from the garden or the desert. He made sure there were always beautiful plants and flowers around the house and always kept an eye out to make sure nobody stepped somewhere they werenít supposed to be stepping.
He was a second dad to many of his sonsí friends. He always welcomed us into his home and treated us as if we were his own. I will miss the time we all spent together in the garden watching the sunset and hanging out by the fire pit. I received some of the best advice of my life sitting next to David by the fire. He was a truly intellectual soul disguised by a pair of dirty jeans and a long mane of silver hair.
David is survived by his wife, Karen, sons Jeremy and Zachary, as well as Zacís wife, Ashley Morissette and Davidís first grandchild, to be named Jackson Morissette due in April. He is also survived by his brother, Dick Morissette and family, and sister, Barbara Jones and family, and his friends and those he loved and was loved like a member of the family.
