The skies over Lake Powell were buzzing with activity last week as the “Big 2” training squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force and representatives for Gulfstream Aeronautics paid a visit to the area on two very different missions.
The RCAF made the trip south because extreme low temperatures at their home airbase, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, halted the formation-flying portion of their training program, according to Capt. Jason Peters.
Peters said temperatures lower than 39 degrees below zero Fahrenheit make it all but impossible for the pilots to conduct their flight drills.
