The Salt River Project will host a community open house about the proposed Best Available Retrofit Technology (BART) rule for the Navajo Generating Station.
Officials will explain the public comment process for the “lengthy and complex” rule issued Jan 18 by the Environmental Protection Agency, according to a statement from SRP, a part-owner and operator of NGS.
The open house will be held Jan. 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the PERA Club at 4445 Haul Rd.
The proposed BART rule calls for NGS to install Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology on its three units to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxide, or NOx.
SRP officials have said the technology would cost around $590 million.
