Polygamy debate at book signing

The 12th of her father’s 23 biological offspring from four different wives, and a former “sister-wife” herself, Kristyn Decker, was in Page Jan. 25 to discuss her autobiography, “Fifty Years in Polygamy.”

Appearing at the Community Center, Decker, from Salt Lake City, talked openly of the abuse she suffered while part of the Apostolic United Brethren (AUB). She answered questions about her experience with polygamy and had an exchange with a proponent of plural marriage.

Her tale began with listing the multiple physical, sexual and emotional abuses she experienced as a child at the hands of members of the AUB. Even though it felt wrong, “Mom said, ‘If you are a good girl, God won’t let bad things happen to you.’”
