City council is starting the new year off with a bang, as it considers the possibility of a property tax in Page.
At their Jan. 9 meeting, councilors will be asked by City Manager Rick Olson to place a property tax initiative on the ballot.
If they do, voters would decide in the May general election whether they want to implement the tax to pay off the city’s bond debt.
The electorate rejected the last two requests by the Page Unified School District to raise property taxes to support spending for education.
