Vida Makowski, chairwoman of the Page Substance Abuse Task Force, has announced that she will not pursue another term and will begin to transition control of the organization to long-time member John Mayes.
Though her term is not officially up until June, Makowski said, Mayes will be taking over many of the positions responsibilities until then.
Makowski said that this doesn’t mean she will disappear, as she still plans on being an active participant. She explained that part of her reasoning behind stepping down is she would like to spend more time with her children and grandchildren.
“Before I came the program was dormant, and now we have an active task force. I am happy with John taking over, and he’s good with that,” said Makowski.
