I decided I would write this article before Election Day so that it would not be affected by the outcome of the election.
I don’t know today who is going to win, but I do know that we need to pray for our next president, whoever we elect. He will be leading a nation that is continuing to turn its back on the God who has blessed it for more than 200 years.
The Bible warns us against such things and history shows us clearly that walking away from God has never been good for a nation. That is why the Psalms tell us, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”
It doesn’t matter if our president or our congressional leaders are Republican or Democrat. While we think they answer to us, the voters, the truth is that they answer to a much higher authority. We are reminded in Romans 13:1 that, “There is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.”
Those who are in positions of authority have been allowed to serve in such positions by the God who created them and who has blessed them with the talent and the gifts to be in authority.
