Eight Page High Sand Devils were selected to the 2012 Navajo Times All-Star teams for spring sports. Half of those eight were baseball players, three were track athletes and one softball player.

The all-star teams were chosen from more than three dozen high schools in Arizona and New Mexico.

Pitcher Erin West was the only Sand Devil to make the softball all-star list. West, a senior, helped lead the Devils to berth in the state playoffs where they lost to Tuba City in the first round. The team finished with an overall record of 12-13, including a 6-4 record in Division III Section 1, which placed them sixth among 17 teams.

West also was named second team all-section by the Arizona Interscholastic Association.

Chavis Curley and Jeffrey Miller were named boys’ track all-stars. In the state track and field championships, the senior Curley placed fifth in the 1600 meters run, 21st in the 800 meters, and ran the leadoff leg of the 4x800 relay team, which took third place. Miller, just a freshman, placed sixth in the 1600.

Nicolette Coleman was the only Lady Sand Devil named a track all-star. The junior finished 12th in the 3200 and 18th in the 1600.

Page High baseball players who made it are Trevor Campbell, Levi Hall, CJ Ripka and Dustin Worker.

Worker, who hit .500 with two of the Devils’ four home runs on the season, also was selected to the AIA Division III second team as a designated hitter, and named first team all-section. Campbell (outfielder), Hall (pitcher) and Ripka (utility) made second team all-section.

Campbell batted .418, second only to Worker on the team.

Hall pitched a no-hitter as part of his 3-4 record as a starter. He also hit .412 and led the team with 10 extra-base hits. Ripka hit .290 and stole 17 bases in 18 attempts.

The team finished the season with a record of 13-15 (7-2 in Section I) after a first-round loss to Tombstone in the state tournament.
