PAGE – About 130 backpacks full of school supplies are on their way to schools across the Navajo Nation reservation and 269 hygiene kits to be included in care packages being sent to Page area veterans and soldiers serving overseas.

On Sept. 11, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints hosted the Page Day of Service, enabling various agencies in town to collect donations to aid local residents directly.

“This was the perfect day to bring the community together to remember those we lost on 9-11,” said Circle of Page Food Pantry Director Ruth Solomon. “We can’t bring them back, but we can remember them by helping others.

“It’s one thing about this community; I never have to ask for food. Someone is always doing a food drive.”
