Dealing with disappointed visitors to Page

Pat Talbott is an information specialist at the Powell Museum and a volunteer for Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
Normally I look forward to going to work. I love being at the museum all day talking to visitors and helping them get to all the wonderful sights and activities we have here. This past week and a half with the parks shut down have been very hard for all of us at the front counter. But we still have it easier than all the people who are out of work or have had their incomes affected by the government shutdown.

What was hard for us, as the news started to finally sink in, was to explain to visitors that the vacation they had been planning and saving for for years was not going to happen.
