After a month of my questions posed to the Page Unified School District administration regarding TeenScreen, they have not answered my simple questions and continue to confuse the facts.
When I became aware of the Flagstaff-based Native Americans for Community Actionís revival of a defunct program called TeenScreen, I immediately researched and reached out to the PUSD governing board and Superintendent Jim Walker about my concerns. Our local media reported it and we were inundated by folks around the country voicing their opposition against TeenScreen, warning our board, superintendent and parents. Total strangers concerned enough to reach out to us.
After 30 days of pleading with PUSD and NACA to show us that TeenScreen is a proven program, no one with PUSD or NACA can show proof that this mental screening program is a good thing for our 10-year-olds, let alone our teenagers.
I have recently received the actual documents that were shown to the PUSD board in a public meeting with NACA.For the complete article see the 05-01-2013 issue.
