PAGE — The Page-Lake Powell Chamber of Commerce and USDA Rural Development is sponsoring a free housing fair May 16 from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. at the Page Townhouse, 601 S. Navajo Dr.
The Arizona Housing Finance Authority, Northern Arizona Council of Governments, Housing and Urban Development and the Navajo Partnership for Housing Inc. will be participating.
Information will be provided by the Veterans Administration and other agencies with housing programs.
“Housing is a critical issue for the area,” said CC Cobb, executive director of the chamber. “There are many programs out there than can help people either get into homes of their own or renovate the ones they have.
“It’s great to have these agencies coming to northern Arizona to lay out the different programs and funding available.”
The fair will provide information on low-interest housing loans, guaranteed housing loans, loans and grants to rehab homes that need certain repairs, refinancing of existing loans (to reduce monthly payments), and getting folks ready to become homeowners, according to Ernie Wetherbee, director of USDA Rural Development Housing.
“This will be a one-stop opportunity for northern Arizonans to explore home ownership options,” said HUD Director William Shaw. “Attendees will not only get professional advice on purchasing, renovating, refinancing and renting a home, but they will also have access to the agencies that can help them figure out how to finance those options as well.”
Several of the partners participating in the fair provide credit counseling.
Following the opening discussion, attendees can visit the individual agencies’ tables to get information on their specific questions. Applications will be available, along with help in understanding how to complete them.
