Big Water residents voted a road rehabilitation and flood mitigation project to the top of their wish list if the town receives a federal grant, according to councilwoman Heather Rankin.
The $450,000 project would include reapplying chip seal to about 10 miles of roadway and flood mitigation work to help areas that face heavy water flow during the monsoon season, she said.
Residents chose the project at a special town hall meeting on Dec. 18.
They must first complete a survey to determine the town’s economic eligibility for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Rankin said. The town faces a Feb. 1 deadline to submit its application.
