Former mayor, radio station owner Dan Brown was ‘a man of passion’

Posted: Wednesday, Dec 12th, 2012

Assertive, candid, dedicated, these are just a few words family and friends used to describe the late Dan Brown.

Brown lived a life most can only dream of before losing his struggle with cancer at age 63.

“He was a fighter,” said his wife Janet Brown. “He took everything he did to the highest level. He loved his community, was a strong leader and civic minded. He wanted to live.”

Dan Brown owned and operated the only radio station in Page for 20 years, a job his wife said he loved and put his all into.

He also devoted his time and energy to the community by serving as a city councilor and a member of the tourism board.

He was popular during his two-year term as mayor.

“Dan was a man of passion who worked hard, played hard and put just as much passion into his views on politics,” said City Councilor Lyle Dimbatt, a close friend of Brown. “Dan will always be remembered as a mayor who wasn’t afraid to cross the line that many would have stopped at to try and generate some kind of benefit for the city.”
