Civic leaders are lauding this year’s Balloon Regatta, with Cory Johnston, president of the Page/Lake Powell Chamber of Commerce, saying, “There is no doubt this is the best... we have ever had.”
Page Mayor Bill Diak agreed, calling it “premier,” and adding it was exciting to see things go so smoothly after the disappointment caused by last year’s weather.
The annual festival started the morning of Nov. 1 with four pilots taking their balloons to local schools, and 12 more taking to the skies.
The next day there were 56 balloons aloft over the area for the media day event, according to balloonmiester Bryan Hill.
“We had balloons in the air every day. We put more balloons over Page than we ever have before. On Saturday we had 60 balloons in the air, which was a record,” said Hill. For the complete article see the 11-07-2012 issue.
