Two Turkish women were found dead from apparent drownings in Lake Powell near Bullfrog Marina, where they were working for the summer, according to Kane County (Utah) Emergency Services.
A boater on Aug. 8 discovered the body of Merve Tolek, 21, floating in Croppy Cove at 3:45 p.m.
Her friend, Betul Eryildirim, also 21, was found nearby the following day at 6:30 p.m. in 30-feet of water by a National Park Service dive team.
Witnesses told authorities the women had gone to the area in mid-afternoon to spend a few hours there.
No foul play is suspected, but investigators said they are treating the incident as a homicide until it can be ruled out.
