Margaret Wolfe had a flair for fashion and a love for baking

Posted: Wednesday, Jan 9th, 2013

Margaret Wolfe went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully on Dec. 6, 2012, at the age of 87 in Prescott Valley, Ariz., from complications due to the cruel disease of Alzheimer’s.

Born May 31, 1925, in Jetmore, Kan., she married Ralph Wolfe, now deceased.

In their 55-year marriage together, they raised three children, Terri Barnes (husband Riley) of Page, Lillian Welliver of Prescott Valley and August Wolfe of Jetmore.

Margaret has five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Margaret also had a career that spanned 46-and-a-half-years as an employee of J.C. Penney Co. in Dodge City, Kan. She loved her job as manager of the Misses Ready-to-Wear department and delighted in helping husbands find that “perfect” gift for their wives as she had a flair for fashion, style, color and accessorizing. She often coordinated the fall and spring fashion shows held at the J.C. Penney mall in Dodge City, every year. Margaret enjoyed modeling clothes in these fashion shows with her daughter, Terri, and oldest granddaughter, Tanzia.

Margaret will also be remembered for her love of baking apple pies each year from the trees in their back yard. She would spend two of her 4-weeks vacation in her kitchen creating delicious pies to give away to family, friends and co-workers, one summer as many as 103 pies!

Margaret will be laid to rest in a private ceremony beside her beloved husband on the farm in Kansas, where she was raised.
