Led by Jessica Anderson being named first team Division III by the Arizona Interscholastic Association, the Page High basketball program earned five AIA awards.

The boys and girls teams play in Division III, Section I.

PHS girls varsity head coach Justin Smith was named co-section coach of the year with Greg Perkins of Holbrook, who also was the division coach of the year.

The Lady Sand Devils, who finished 17-12, advanced to the state quarterfinals this past season after winning the state championship the previous year.

Anderson, the teamís leading scorer and rebounder, was also first team all-section. The senior post player has committed to play for Utah State University, College of Eastern Utah.

The Sand Devils boys team had two underclassman named all-section: junior Carson Wright was named first team and sophomore Jamaal Thomas second-team. They were first and second, respectively, in scoring for the Devils (15-13) who lost to Tuba City in the first round of the state tournament.

Wright and Thomas also tied for second-most assists on the team.

In a statewide poll, the AIA gives each coach the opportunity to nominate athletes from his or her school and coaches within their section and division. All coaches can then vote on the nominees.
