The Bowl exploded with activity the night of Nov. 17 as 48 bowlers overfilled eight lanes to participate in the 2nd annual Bowl For Turkeys. It was a night to remember.
Bowl for Turkeys is a fund-raising event to help Cancer Outreach Program.
“We had to turn people away this year” stated Jo Bjorholm, coordinator of the event. “There just wasn’t enough lanes to accommodate everyone who wanted to bowl. We put six on a lane as it was.”
The idea was to bowl a “turkey” —three consecutive strikes — and get a $15 gift card toward a Thanksgiving turkey.
Ten were given away and many more could have been during this 9-pin “no-tap” festival of fun.
“Everyone was having a good time and supporting the cause,” Bjorholm said.
There were shirts, angel pins and “fight cancer” magnets available for purchase, as well as raffles and door prizes.
Volunteers were kept busy with sales of tickets and items helping to raise $639 that will be used to help local cancer patients get to and from treatment.
