Two PHS golfers fall short at state

Andrew Keisling placed 41st at the Arizona Division II state golf championship Oct. 29-30 at the Silverbell Golf Course in Tucson.

The senior Sand Devil opened with a round of 80, then followed that with a 75 in the two-round tournament, finishing 15 shots behind Billy Comeaux, who won the title by two strokes.

Keisling’s teammate Lindsay Wood shot a 167 after opening with a first-round 90. She came in 80th out of the 115 golfers who completed both rounds.

Wood, a sophomore, was competing in the boys tournament because Page High does not have a girls team.

The Sand Devils as a team did not qualify tor the tournament, which was won by Thunderbird by seven strokes over runnerup Canyon del Oro.
